successful Ford SYNC 3 screen upgrade depends on more than the screen itself. The wiring and adapters included in the kit are responsible for connecting the upgraded display with the vehicle's existing electronic systems.
In Part 2 of our unboxing series, we'll take a closer look at the Ford SYNC 3 wiring harnesses, video adapters, and connection cables included in the kit.
1. Vehicle-Specific Wiring & Video Adapter
The vehicle-specific wiring and video adapter is designed to connect the upgraded display to the vehicle's existing system.
Unlike a generic wiring solution, a vehicle-specific adapter is designed around the original Ford system, helping simplify the Ford screen upgrade installation and reduce unnecessary wiring modifications.
Its main purpose is simple: connect the right components together and make the upgraded screen communicate with the vehicle's system.
2. LVDS Wiring Harness & Display Conversion Module
The LVDS wiring harness is responsible for transferring display signals between the system and the upgraded screen.
The kit also includes an InCarElectronic-designed display conversion module, which is mounted on a dedicated bracket. Together, these components help integrate the original system with the new 12-inch display.
In simple terms, the LVDS connection and conversion module help make sure that the vehicle's system can properly communicate with the new screen.
3. AC Main Board FFC Cable
The AC main board FFC cable provides the necessary connection for the AC control board during the screen upgrade.
This cable is an important part of maintaining the connection between the upgraded assembly and the vehicle's climate-control-related electronics.
4. Climate Control Main Board Ribbon Cable
The climate control main board ribbon cable provides another essential connection for the vehicle's climate control system.
While these cables may look small, they play an important role in keeping the vehicle's original functions properly connected during the Ford SYNC 3 installation.
5. USB Charger, Covers & Cable
The kit also includes a USB charger, two types of covers, and the necessary cable.
These accessories provide convenient USB connectivity while helping complete the installation cleanly.
